And so - we've spent 5 nights in the new house, and i can honestly say, it did not take us long to feel 'at home' in our new home.
The other day, thursday i think, I asked Deb to do NOTHING with regards to the move. Despite the plethora of shit that still needed to be done, we'd been so exhausted that we were starting to burn out. So i asked her to enjoy the new house for a change; find some fun things to do with the space. So she went shopping, bought some "fowlers" (that's Deb-speak for "flowers").
When i got home, she was puttering around the gardens of 'fowlers', weeding the lawn - all the shit she loves to do to relax and calm herself. I'd never seen her happier. So i decided, myself, to change, pour myself a nice glass of scotch, put out the patio chairs, brought the birds outside with me, and sat down in the nice sunshine and relaxed. It was glorious.
Friday night we pretty much relaxed outside with the birds on the patio. I read Volume two of "HUSH: Batman" graphic book. Was awesome. The art was fantastic; story was great. (yes i'm a geek). Deb finished weeding the yard (it looks awesome now).
Saturday, we got up, had a coffee and then went outside to do more yardwork. I cut the cedar hedges at the front (needed to be done). In the process, i got about 5 mosquito bites (i guess that comes with the territory). WE cleaned the patio chairs, and then went shopping for steaks, beer and wine. (oh and vodka for Deb's Vodka-smoothies). My brother, Dan, came over - and so did my buddy Jeremy. We sat outside, enjoyed the warm weather, and did bbq! Mmmmm steaks!
Sunday was a rainy day. we took advantage of that by actually setting up the basement. The basement is now starting to look more like a home-office now. WE emptied a good chunk of the boxes. My desk looks full again. And Deb's machine is finally up and running. Raymond finally came home to see the house for the first time. He was very excited as he took the tour. He got to see his new bed, and he was pretty pleased with that. More importantly, he wanted to get his tv set up in the basement so that he could play xbox, or gamecube, or just watch tv. So I helped him with that.
It was a great first weekend in our new house. And hopefully i'm done talking about the NEW HOUSE. I should be back to regular, non-house, posting after this.
Now - onto my geekiness, again.
There are some unbelievably great pictures coming back from Phoenix, the Mars Lander, as it tries to determine what kind of ice Mars has. And being a total space nut, I wanted to share this panoramic image that has taken over 38 sols (Sol=Mars days which is just over 24hours long.. in fact it's around 24 hours and 39 minutes long) to capture.
So - everyone, have a geeky week.
